Washington Irving Book Award

The Washington Irving Book Award will be established in 2008 by the Museum of Washington Irving to honor authors and illustrators of children's books who live and work in Columbia, Greene, Delaware and Schoharie Counties during the time of the award and to encourage reading and literacy throughout the region.

Award nominees are selected by a committee of school and public librarians. Children in the region are then asked to vote on their favorite book from the list of nominees.

The award-winning author will be presented with a plaque and a $100 honorarium at an Afternoon Tea held at the Washington Irving Inn in Hunter, NY.
